To write and edit posts for a Dropplets blog you create text files in a format called Markdown (.md). There are native applications for all platforms for writing markdown, but for now I am using the online tool at http://dillinger.io to write posts, saving it to my Dropbox, and then uploading the .md file to the blog to add a post. I love that all of this can be done in the browser with no native applications needed. If I was in a pinch I could do it from my phone or tablet. Or a Chromebook.
I have decided to try out a new database-less blogging platform called Dropplets. This is my first post to the new platform and, as you can see, there isn’t much of a theme to it yet. So far it has been very easy to get going - just unzip the download, upload the files, and open the home page to get started. In the next few days I’ll be creating a theme and trying out the new app. Hit me up on Twitter @hudey123 (or click on the Continue Reading button to get a link) if you have any comments, questions, or suggestions.
